Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew likes big physical cornerbacks, so it’s no surprise he moved up in the third round of Friday’s NFL Draft to secure the services of cornerback Alex Carter.

The Lions sent a fifth-round pick (143rd overall) to Minnesota to move up.
Carter is a physical cornerback who's not afraid to come up and put a helmet on a ball carrier. He has good size at 6-foot, 196 pounds and could even make a jump to safety if needed -- He’s versatile enough.
