Allen Park — If the Detroit Lions were going to trade Golden Tate, the offer needed to be compelling. Hours before the deadline on Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles met the demand, agreeing to send a third-round pick in exchange for the productive slot receiver.
The compensation was first reported by ESPN.
Tate acknowledged the deal on Twitter, writing, "It’s been real DETROIT! I’ll love ya forever. Philly Philly let’s get it!!"
In his four-plus seasons with Detroit, Tate was one of the most productive receivers in franchise history. He caught at least 90 passes each of his first four seasons with the franchise after signing as a free agent in 2014 and finished his time in Detroit with 416 receptions for 4,741 and 22 touchdowns.
