Detroit Lions to nab WR Denzel Mims in trade with New York Jets

The Detroit Lions are in talks to acquire wide receiver Denzel Mims from the New York Jets and a deal is expected to be completed Thursday, a person familiar with the trade told the Free Press.

Mims, a second-round pick in 2020, requested a trade last year but languished on the Jets roster all season. The Jets reportedly informed him he would be released if a trade partner could not be found this week.

Mims had 42 catches for 676 yards and no touchdowns in three seasons in New York. He appeared in 10 games and caught 11 passes last year, but could help a Lions receiving corps this fall that will be without Jameson Williams for the first six games of the regular season.
