The Detroit Lions will lean on a familiar voice as the new voice of preseason football.
Fred McLeod, the former longtime Detroit sports TV anchor, will be the new play-by-play announcer of the Lions games in August.
McLeod replaces Matt Shepard, now in his first season as the Tigers play-by-play man on Fox Sports Detroit. Former Lions All-Pro linebacker Chris Spielman, an NFL analyst for Fox, will be the analyst with McLeod and Tori Petry, who works as a reporter for detroitlions.com, will be the sideline reporter.
