Wide receiver Jared Abbrederis announced on Twitter today that he's signing with the Detroit Lions.
Abbrederis played most of the past three seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he caught 10 passes for 119 yards while appearing in 15 games. He added six catches for 69 yards in two postseason games last season. He was waived by the Packers in October.
Last season, Abbrederis, who played collegiality at Wisconsin and was a fifth-round draft pick in 2014, caught a career-high four passes for 57 yards in the Lions' 18-16 win at Lambeau Field.
This is the time of year when NFL teams begin signing players to non-guaranteed futures contracts, essentially giving them a chance to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster during the spring.
