The Detroit Lions have their replacement for Quandre Diggs.
The Lions signed veteran safety Marcus Gilchrist on Thursday. Gilchrist started all 16 games for the Oakland Raiders last season and made three interceptions. Before that, he was a starter for the New York Jets, Houston Texans and San Diego Chargers.
On Tuesday, the Lions traded Diggs, a starter and team captain, to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 fifth-round draft pick.
While the Lions hope to use the extra draft choice as capital to make a move before next week's NFL trade deadline, they needed more additional help in the secondary.
