ALLEN PARK -- It seems the Detroit Lions might not land Ricky-Jean Francois after all, but they still added help at defensive tackle on Wednesday with the signing of Sylvester Williams.
Williams, 29, hit the market just one year into a three-year, $16.4 million contract he signed with Tennessee last offseason. He had just 20 tackles and no sacks for the Titans, his worst season since his rookie year, and was cut in a cost-saving measure.
He ranked 67th at the position according to ProFootballFocus.
But Williams is stout against the run, which the Lions are missing after the departure of Haloti Ngata.
