Detroit Lions sign a former Patriot at defensive tackle

One of the lingering concerns about this Detroit Lions roster heading into training camp was the interior of their defensive line. The Lions lost All-Pro defensive tackle Haloti Ngata to the Philadephia Eagles via free agency earlier this year. And Detroit struggled mightily when Ngata was lost for the season last year after suffering a bicep injury in Week Five.

In his place, former second-round pick A’Shawn Robinson tried his best to fill Ngata’s massive shoes. This offseason, the Lions addressed their interior defensive line needs by trading away Akeem Spence to the Miami Dolphins, signing free agent Sylvester Williams and drafting Alabama defensive end De’Shawn Hand in the fourth round.
