Detroit Lions send Ezekiel Ansah to IR after disappointing season

How much will $17.143 million get you these days? If you are the Detroit Lions, it gets you 12 tackles and 4.0 sacks in seven games. That’s the final stat line that defensive end Ezekiel Ansah will post for 2018 after getting placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve list on Tuesday.

A free agent earlier this offseason, Ansah was signed to the Lions’ franchise tag for this year, with a hefty price tag just north of $17 million. The 29-year old would go on to play a total of 21 snaps in Detroit’s Week One matchup against the New York Jets before being sidelined with a shoulder injury.
