Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Lions are cutting wide receiver Daurice Fountain.
Fountain spent the entirety of 2023 on the Lions’ practice squad. After signing a futures deal to return to Detroit for 2024, Fountain looked like he had improved during the early days of training camp. His strong play was rewarded with some playing time in the first-team offense. However, that production slowly waned throughout camp. In the preseason, Fountain caught just two balls for 15 yards on seven targets. He had a particularly tough drop in the preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
