It wasn’t the world’s most important catch. But it was one Detroit Lions rookie tight end Isaac Nauta knew he should have made.
The Lions were down, 20-0, midway through the third quarter of their preseason opener against the New England Patriots. It was second-and-7 from the Lions’ 25 and third-string quarterback David Fales fired a short pass to Nauta in the right flat.
Nauta, touted this spring by Lions tight ends coach Chris White as having the best hands among tight ends in the entire NFL draft, had a step on the coverage.
