There aren't many NFL players who got cut from their middle-school football team. In fact, Romeo Okwara ventures to guess he's the only one.
But 11 years after he failed to make the Community House Middle School team in Charlotte, Okwara is still kicking around the sport, and doing pretty well.
"It just pushed me to work even harder if anything," Okwara said Friday, after his second practice with the Detroit Lions. "I mean, it's been a long time since that, a lot of things have happened, but it’s definitely something that I can look back on and laugh at.
