After committing about $100 million to upcoming stadium renovations, the Lions are dreaming of hosting another Super Bowl.
Lions president Rod Wood said Wednesday night he has “expressed an interest in bidding on the next round” of Super Bowls when the NFL opens the process this fall.
“We’re at the very beginnings of trying to work with some of our partners in the city to form a commission that could focus on bringing things to the city of Detroit,” Wood said during at a private unveiling of stadium enhancements for some of the Lions’ corporate partners. “I think with the activity downtown, just think back to when we had the Super Bowl here 11 years ago, 12 years ago now, what’s happened in the city since then, and with what we’re going to do with the stadium.
