Detroit Lions QB Tom Savage is in concussion protocol

On Saturday afternoon, Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia confirmed that backup quarterback Tom Savage is currently in concussion protocol.

Savage left Thursday’s preseason game against the New England Patriots after getting thrown to the grown. Video replay appears to show Savage’s head bouncing violently off the new Ford Field turf:

Tom Savage should NOT come back into this game.
This looks like a concussion once again as he hits the turf hard! pic.twitter.com/nPkbfZlXUn— René Bugner (Rainbowcave) (@RNBWCV) August 9, 2019

Savage has a long history of concussions, including at least three brain injuries suffered in the last four years.
