Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford avoided serious injury and should not miss game time because of the right thumb injury he suffered in Sunday's 30-27 win over Washington, NFL Network reported.
Stafford injured his thumb on a sack late in the first quarter, but stayed in the game and led the Lions to a late victory.
He said he had problems gripping the ball immediately after a hit by Kevin Pierre-Louis with 3:10 left in the first quarter. Lions trainers taped his thumb and the base of his hand after the series, and Stafford finished 24 of 33 passing for 276 yards and three touchdowns.
