The Detroit Lions filled one of their two vacant roster spots on Wednesday afternoon as they announced that running back Paul Perkins has been promoted from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster.
With Kerryon Johnson placed on the Injured Reserve, the Lions were thin at running back. Ty Johnson and J.D. McKissic were the only two established backs on the roster. Now, Perkins rejoins the team and, together with recently-signed Tra Carson, will provide some depth for the Lions.
Perkins is by no means a replacement for Johnson, nor does it rule out the possibility of a trade.
