Detroit Lions president Rod Wood met with reporters via Zoom on Tuesday to update the team's coach and general manager searches. The Lions have interviewed seven candidates for the GM job and two for head coach so far, and interviews continue this morning with interim head coach Darrell Bevell.

Lessons from previous searches
• The Lions seem to have learned valuable lessons from their most recent coach and GM searches, which were both too narrow in scope and perhaps too focused on the wrong thing. Rather than value a candidate's accomplishments, Wood said the Lions have a very specific criteria they are looking for in their hires that focuses on "leadership, culture, teamwork, awareness of each other strengths and weaknesses, and what we’re really looking for is a culture that is open, inclusive, where everybody's pulling together as a team.
