The Detroit Lions officially placed rookie cornerback Ifeatu Melifonwu on injured reserve Wednesday morning. The Lions' third-round pick suffered a thigh injury in Monday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers while in coverage against Davante Adams.
The Lions won’t be able to activate Melifonwu from IR for at least three weeks, but head coach Dan Campbell made it sound like he’ll miss more time than that.
“He’s going to be down for a significant amount of time and so certainly won’t have him for at least a couple of weeks, if not more,” Campbell said on Tuesday.
