KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Detroit Lions got their backup quarterback in Round 3 of the NFL draft Friday - and it's a player some projected to go in Round 1.
The Lions selected Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker with the 68th overall pick Friday.
Hooker, 25, had a big senior season in 2022, throwing for 3,135 yards and completing 69.6% of his passes with 27 touchdowns against two interceptions in 11 starts. But his season ended prematurely due to a torn ACL in his left knee suffered November 19 vs. South Carolina.
Analysis:Lions GM Brad Holmes said he was willing to get ripped for his NFL draft.
