The Detroit Lions are starting over – again – after owner Martha Firestone Ford fired team president Tom Lewand and general manager Mayhew Thursday in a move that surprised many people around the NFL.
Lewand and Mayhew had been in place for seven years and although the team showed some progress at times, the Lions still haven't won a playoff game since capturing their last NFL championship in 1957.
They went to the playoffs twice under Lewand and Mayhew but were promptly bounced in the wild-card round both years.
But could the latest rebuilding effort be different?
