The Detroit Lions could have a new playing surface this season.
According to a review of minutes from the Detroit-Wayne County Stadium Authority's November meeting by Crains, the Lions said they were beginning the process of replacing their now six-year-old turf.
"We will likely be replacing that as part of our offseason in 2019," Lions vice president of operations Todd Argust told the commission, according to Crains.
Lions president Rod Wood said at the NFL's annual meeting last month that the team did not have "any major investments in the stadium" planned for this offseason.
