GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Detroit Lions won't have linebacker Jarrad Davis on the field for their season opener Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals.
Davis, the Lions' leading tackler last season, suffered an ankle injury in Game No. 3 of the preseason and has not practiced since.
The Lions are expected to use a combination of Jalen Reeves-Maybin and rookie Jahlani Tavai in Davis' place. Tavai, a second-round pick out of Hawaii, played well in the preseason, while Reeves-Maybin's speed should help the Lions match up with Arizona rookie quarterback Kyler Murray.
