As the Detroit Lions’ quarterback carousel turns, the one constant through all the injuries and roster churn has been Matthew Stafford.
The 11-year veteran remains unable to play because of a back injury that has sidelined him the past four games, but the team has continued to keep him on the 53-man roster and not place him on injured reserve.
Even as Jeff Driskel was put on IR over the weekend and the team signed two quarterbacks — Kyle Sloter and Joe Callahan — as backups for David Blough, Stafford remains on the active roster.
