Jace Billingsley has done what he can. Now, for the second straight preseason, he's at the mercy of the Detroit Lions' front office.
A year after he was one of the final cuts to the 53-man roster, Billingsley has once again put together a strong training camp in his bid for the possible fifth and final wide receiver spot.
He leads the Lions with 104 yards on eight catches through three exhibition games. He's been solid if unspectacular on punt returns. And with one final audition left Thursday against the Buffalo Bills, Billingsley has a chance to convince general manager Bob Quinn and others that he's valuable enough to keep around for the regular season.
