Ameer Abdullah made the Detroit Lions' roster with a strong preseason, but as the team's fourth running back, it might be a while before he sees the field.
Abdullah, the Lions' Week 1 starter at running back each of the last two seasons, is one of seven inactives for the Lions' season opener Monday night against the New York Jets.Defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson, defensive end Romeo Okwara, wide receiver Brandon Powell, cornerback Dee Virgin and offensive linemen Joe Dahl and Andrew Donnal also are inactive for the Lions.
Abdullah ran for 53 yards on 13 carries this preseason, but he remains behind Kerryon Johnson, LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick in the Lions' rotation at running back.
