The Detroit Lions tried to put their kicker follies behind them for good by handing Matt Prater a three-year, $9 million deal this offseason.
But that hasn't kept them from doing their due diligence for the draft anyway.
Detroit hosted Notre Dame kicker Kyle Brindza for a pre-draft visit Tuesday in Allen Park. And because Brinzda is from Canton, located about 20 miles from the team's headquarters, he is considered a local prospect and will not count against the 30-visit limit.
The Lions have 11 of those visits left.
Brindza converted just 14 of his 24 field-goal attempts last season, but did make 4-of-6 career attempts from 50 yards.
