ALLEN PARK -- That was fast.
The Detroit Lions announced Thursday afternoon they've hired Rod Wood as their new president, just two weeks after firing Tom Lewand from that position.
Wood, 55, will report directly to owner Martha Firestone Ford and handle the business side of the operation.
"It was critical to me and my family to fill the president's position as soon as possible, provided we identified the right person," Ford said. "I am confident Rod is the right person.
"I also believe Rod's appointment now gives us the ability to move more decisively with respect to our search for a general manager.
