Detroit Lions' focus on O-line in free agency shows where priorities are

Former Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy once ate llama. He also sampled rat and frog and the dense, vegetal underbrush in the Amazon rainforest, hiking the Inca trail.

Levy was more than a curious and soulful trekker, of course. He was big and fast, too. That he doesn’t run like he once did surely is why the Lions released him Thursday afternoon.

There is no room for sentiment in the NFL. Or for right tackles who can’t consistently protect star quarterbacks.

Hello, Ricky Wagner and Paul Worrilow. Goodbye Levy and Riley Reiff.

Bob Quinn, the Lions’ general manager, signed Wagner, a right tackle, and Worrilow, a linebacker, this week to open up the NFL’s free agency period.
