Free Press sports writer Carlos Monarrez grades the Detroit Lions after selecting Ohio State defensive end Jashon Cornell with the No. 235 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft:
Pick: Jashon Cornell, Ohio State defensive end
Grade: B.
The reason: At 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, he will likely play end and possibly tackle on passing downs. He was mostly a backup on Ohio State’s deep defense, but managed to get four sacks as a senior, when he was honorable All-Big Ten. Cornell will be a project, but he’s a worthwhile investment coming from a great program, possibly adding depth and competition at a position of need.
