The Detroit Lions had their hands full with Ezekiel Elliott all game, but for a brief moment in Sunday's fourth quarter it looked like their much-maligned defense might finally get a stop.
On third-and-7 with just over 10 minutes to play, Dak Prescott threw incomplete to Michael Gallup on third down.
But before the Lions could celebrate and send their punt-return team on the field, referee Walt Coleman turned on his microphone and announced the Lions' eighth and most egregious penalty: Linebacker Eli Harold had lined up in the neutral zone, giving the Cowboys one more crack at a third-down conversion.
