The Detroit Lions will be without their best defensive tackle for the rest of the season.
The Lions placed Haloti Ngata on injured reserve today because of a bicep injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Ngata is eligible to return this season, but a team source said the injury is serious enough that it will end Ngata's season.
Acquired in a 2014 trade with the Baltimore Ravens, Ngata had seven tackles and two sacks in five games for the Lions (3-2) this year and was generally considered the team's best interior run defender.
