It started as a harmless tweet.
Detroit Lions cornerback Darius Slay, in athletic purgatory as he waits for next weekend's Pro Bowl festivities in Orlando, is still in Michigan. He asked social media on Monday where he should go to watch a good college basketball game.
Quick a few people mentioned Saturday's Oakland-Detroit Mercy game, but it would appear that Slay was looking for a more immediate solution.
And so, he took a trip over to Kalamazoo and was front and center at the Western Michigan game against No. 16 Buffalo on Tuesday.
And Slay wasn't looking for the celebrity treatment at University Arena.
