The Detroit Lions traded Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles last week in part because they did not want to meet his demands for a new contract.
Turns out, the extension Slay signed with his new team isn't that cumbersome at all.
The Eagles gave Slay a $13 million signing bonus as part of a three-year extension, but have an easy out in the contract once the guaranteed money expires after the 2021 season.
Slay, who was scheduled to earn $10 million in base salary this fall under his old Lions deal, with another $500,000 total available in per-game and workout bonuses, stands to make about $26 million total over the next two seasons with the Eagles.
