Detroit Lions bubble watch: How preseason opener shifted offensive depth chart

The Detroit Lions offense did not have their best day against the New York Giants, but that’s all part of the process. The purpose of preseason games isn’t to win, but to evaluate. And bad performances are just as necessary to identify as the good ones when building a roster.

Of course it wasn’t all bad from the Lions offense, either. Several players along the depth chart quietly had good individual performances, even if it didn’t lead to full team success.
