Detroit Lions bring back CB DeShawn Shead; Darius Slay doubtful?

Cornerback DeShawn Shead is back with the Detroit Lions.

The Lions announced Wednesday they signed the veteran, whom they cut after the fourth preseason game. Shead will be, at the very least, insurance in the defensive backfield with the status of All-Pro cornerback Darius Slay uncertain after he suffered a concussion in San Francisco.

Slay lay motionless on the field briefly after a helmet-to-helmet hit on 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk.

He was ruled out of the game immediately after being examined by doctors, and also was evaluated for a concussion (but returned) in a Week 1 loss to the New York Jets.
