Beau Benzschawel didn’t play a single offensive snap this season for the Detroit Lions. But the undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin didn’t need to, to feel his season was a success.
“I think it’s just been really good for me,” Benzschawel said before the Lions’ season-ending loss to the Green Bay Packers last month. “It’s helped me immensely.”
A four-year starter in college who saw most of his playing time at right guard, Benzschawel played exclusively center on the scout team for the Lions this season.

He took a smattering of guard reps on the few occasions he worked with the first-team offensive line in practice, but said learning the center position made a more well-rounded player overall.
