DETROIT -- Don Carey was re-signed by the Lions on Tuesday. He led the team out of tunnel on Thursday, then played the second-most special teams snaps.
And then he was cut on Friday.
Detroit announced it has been awarded defensive back Marcus Cooper off waivers from the Bears, and parted with Carey in the corresponding move.
Cooper, a seventh-round pick of the 49ers in 2013, wound up carving out a role for himself with the Chiefs. He played in 29 games his first two seasons in the league, and started 10. His best season came with Arizona in 2016, when he finished with 69 tackles, 11 passes defended and four interceptions.
