INDIANAPOLIS — It doesn't solve all of their needs at defensive end, but it's a step in the right direction.
The Detroit Lions locked up their top sack producer from last season Friday, agreeing to a two-year deal with Romeo Okwara.
The deal, which was first reported by NFL Network, keeps Okwara from becoming a restricted free agent.
The Lions claimed Okwara off waivers from the New York Giants early last season and the 23-year-old defensive end immediately became their most effective pass rusher.
