ALLEN PARK -- Ezekiel Ansah is back just in time for a big week of practice.
The Detroit Lions announced Monday morning they've activated their star defensive end from the physically unable to perform list. Ansah was placed on PUP at the start of training camp with an undisclosed injury and wound up missing eight days of practice.
Ansah, 29, has been working on the side with a trainer most days, but hasn't been able to suit up and that has delayed his acclimation to the new defense. His role is expected to change dramatically under new coach Matt Patricia, including lining up as a stand-up linebacker in addition to his responsibilities as a down defensive end.
