The boo birds emerged early and echoed throughout the corridors of Ford Field on Thursday night as the Detroit Lions suffered an embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots, 31-3. Although the schemes were vanilla and the majority of the starters were on the sidelines, the Lions’ efforts in their preseason home opener did little to foster fan excitement for the upcoming regular season.
The Patriots basically did whatever they wanted against the Lions’ backups. And following the poor performance, we try to gleam the biggest positives and negatives from Detroit’s preseason opening defeat.
