SANTA CLARA, Calif. — This is not a rush judgment made haphazardly two weeks into the season. This is a fact: The Detroit Lions are not a very good football team right now.
The Lions opened the season with their second straight loss Sunday, falling to the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium, 30-27.
While the game was made close by two window-dressing scores in the fourth quarter — Matthew Stafford touchdown passes to Marvin Jones and Michael Roberts — the Lions were too careless when it counted and it cost them a winnable game.
