The Detroit Lions blew a big opportunity. It was reminiscent of the ending to Super Bowl XLIX, only this wasn’t the highest-profile game ever. One would think offensive coordinator Darrel Bevell would have learned his lesson from that game – don’t get cute when the game’s on the line.
Bevell, unfortunately for these Detroit Lions, didn’t learn from that experience and pulled his best receivers from the game to run a play-action pass. The target of the pass? Backup tight end Logan Thomas. If Bevell was trying to get a play the Raiders least suspected, he succeeded…and then failed.
