ALLEN PARK -- DeAndre Levy used to be one of the Detroit Lions' most well-liked stars. Then he went through a two-year battle with an array of injuries, and the fans turned on him.
Not all of them, of course. But many. Few players were disliked more than Levy, and the frustrations grew as the injuries stacked up. But if Levy harbored any resentment for the eroding support, he never showed it, even on his way out the door.
He bid farewell to Detroit on Thursday evening, hours after the Lions announced they would cut the eighth-year linebacker, and took a moment to thank the fans.
