Detroit — Amid the shock and grief, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford commendably answered questions for 5 minutes about the team’s heartbreaking loss to the Packers on Thursday night.
But, when asked how he would put the defeat into words, Stafford had little to say.
“Don’t,” he said.
Lions safety Glover Quin and wide receiver Golden Tate struggled to describe the gut-wrenching loss, too. Cornerback Darius Slay said he was in “shock mode” after seeing the Packers complete a 61-yard Hail Mary to beat his team, 27-23, at Ford Field.
Lions coach Jim Caldwell said the mood in the locker room was just as anyone would anticipate — quiet with players wondering how they’d lost when they held a lead for most of the game’s 60 minutes.
