General manager Bob Quinn wanted to add to the Detroit Lions' depth and improve their run game and in one signing Saturday, he helped do both. Darren Fells is one of the better run-blocking tight ends in the NFL and a player that despite being 30 years old, doesn’t have a lot of football mileage on him.
That’s because prior to 2013, he was a professional basketball player in Europe.
Terms: 1 year, $1.5 million, per a source.
Grade A: This is just a smart, reasonable signing by the Lions.
