Before Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell turned his attention to minicamp, he led off his press conference with some thoughts on Larry Allen, who suddenly passed away while on vacation this past Sunday. He was just 52 years old.
“I really need to start with Larry Allen. Larry was a teammate of mine for three years at Dallas. Man, I’m just like everybody. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” Campbell said.
Campbell and Allen overlapped from 2003-05 in Dallas—the tail end of Allen’s illustrious career. The Cowboys offensive guard was an 11-time Pro Bowler, seven-time All-Pro, and was part of the Cowboys’ most recent Super Bowl-winning team in 1995.
