HOUSTON -- Detroit Lions kicker Matt Prater already holds the NFL record for longest field goal, a 64-yarder while with Denver in 2013. But Sam Martin says he could boot one even farther.
Much, much farther.
"Live in a game and everything, I would feel good 65-70 yards," the punter said recently.
Seventy yards? Really?
"If it's a must-kick opportunity, I think we have a better chance of him making that kick than launching a ball into the end zone," Martin said.
Prater has hit already from the 70s in practice. In fact, after Justin Tucker hit one from 75 during Pro Bowl festivities in Orlando, Prater backed it up 1 yard and then blasted one from 76.
