INDIANAPOLIS -- It wasn't all that long ago when there was talk in NFL circles about the devaluation of the running back position. None were taken in the first round at all from 2013-14.
The last time that happened in consecutive seasons: Never.
This year, though, there are as many as five running backs who have been talked about as possible Day 1 picks, and Friday's combine results seemed to assure multiple backs will go that early. But perhaps none helped himself as Christian McCaffrey.
The Stanford star rolled into Indianapolis as a first-round prospect, but behind LSU's Leonard Fournette and Florida State's Dalvin Cook according to most draft experts.
