Chiefs lineman is a doctor, but NFL denies 'M.D.' jersey request

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is a doctor now, having graduated from McGill University.

But his day job currently is an offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs.

So Duvernay-Tardif petitioned the NFL for a small addition to his No. 76 jersey -- "M.D." indicating his status as the NFL's only active player with a medical degree.

And the league said no.

From the league that allowed "Ochocinco" on the back of a jerseys, this sure is a strange stance and would seem like something the NFL would want to highlight and celebrate.
