The Detroit Lions begin their off-season workout program Monday, and for a number of new signees, that means the chance to start earning a portion of their contract.
Like they did with play-time incentives, the new Lions regime of general manager Bob Quinn and cap specialist Matt Harriss put workout bonuses in many of the contracts they negotiated this off-season.
Five of the 10 veteran free agents the Lions signed from other teams have workout bonuses that range from $25,000, the amount defensive end Wallace Gilberry has in his contract, to $200,000, the sizable payout in defensive tackle Stefan Charles' deal.
